Blood Bank Program
The staff at the Veterinary Emergency Hospital(VEH) is excited to inform
the local community of their new blood banking program. With this
program, the VEH is now able to offer whole blood, fresh frozen plasma,
plasma, and packed red blood cells that can be used for transfusions.
These different types of items can be used on pets that would require a
transfusion due to an autoimmune disease, poisoning, traumatic injury,
or many other serious health concerns.
For this program, Dr. Heidi Hanson has chosen a group of privately
owned dogs that will create and maintain a stable donor pool. All of
these dogs have been screened and must meet certain criteria to remain
in the program. All of the dogs must be neutered or spayed, 55 pounds
and greater, between the ages of 2 and 6 years, and not currently on
any medications. All of these dogs have also had extensive blood-work
to determine they are healthy enough to stay enrolled in the program.
This is an exciting new program for the hospital that will be successful in
saving the lives of many other dogs.
If you or someone you know has a dog that fits the criteria listed above, and is interested in becoming involved in the program, please send us an e-mail containing your name, address, and telephone number. We will send you out more information on the program as well as an initial application to fill out and send back! Send e-mails to: admin@allcitypetcare.com
